FEMALE REFEREE COURSE

Girls and women aged 14+ are encouraged to get into refereeing. Its a great way to be active and earn cash aswell. Towards this KPFC, KDFRA and NSFA have organised a female-only referee course at Auluba on Wednesday 19th and Tuesday 25 July (two evenings), and it is free! Please enrol in the course here (http://kdfra.com.au/join/) and follow the steps. Any questions please reach out to Nicole (vpwomen@kpfc.asn.au).
DOG BITE AT AULUBA DURING TRAINING

We recently had a dog bite on one of our youngest members during weeknight training with a runner encroaching too close to our players with a dog on leash. Apart from physical safety, these incidents can be traumatic and have long lasting impacts on players. To facilitate a safe environment for all our members if I could ask our members to leave their dogs at home for games and training, particularly where/when miniroos are training and playing. If you must bring your dog, please ensure they are at a safe distance on-leash away from the players and playing fields in the least case (Auluba, Howson and Comenarra are designated on-leash areas).
RESPECT

I cannot emphasise enough the need for everyone to respect our officials and one another. Incidents continue to occur across the association, and there is simply no place in our game for disrespectful behaviour. Enjoy the game. Be positive. Be an example for our young players. If an incident occurs, please raise it straight away with your manager. Managers, please note the Issue Resolution process here.
WELCOME PIP AND THANK YOU JEREMY

A warm welcome to Pip Butron, who has kindly volunteered as our VP Men’s All Age. Pip has been a player and manager for many years and it is fantastic to have him in this role. Our sincere thanks to Jeremy Tucker who has looked after this role for three years. Jeremy is staying on as club Vice President and continues to provide invaluable service in that role.
TEAM UPDATES

While not all teams can win the comp, a few teams are having stellar seasons so far; please show them your support. The Women’s 35 Div 1,  Men’s All age Div 4, Girls Under 12 Dev Div 3 teams looking good on the top of the table and Women’s All age Div 4 and mixed U13 Div 5 not far off the pace (apologies if I’ve missed anyone).
THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS

We continue to thrive as a grass roots community club, driven by our 180+ volunteers. We have a great club and volunteers culture – our game leaders, coaches, managers, age/ground/canteen/merch/equipment/volunteer+ coordinators, committee all make this club what it is. Please reach out and say thanks.
FACILITIES TOWN HALL SESSION

As our club grows our facilities are stretched to beyond capacity for training and matches. This is due to increased participation, population and competition for use (schools, other sports and general recreation needs) and lack of possibility for new fields with the increasing demand. To address this issue, we are doing all we can to work with Council and NSFA to improve the facilities available and extend their availability. In particular, through lobbying for better drainage, lighting and upgrades of surface/turf in a strategic way to best get usage out of what is available locally. We recently engaged a consultant to provide a range of possible options. We would like to share this with the community and talk through the challenges we face going forward. I plan to hold a session in late August following the world cup to talk this through – we’ll send out details in due course.

Wet weather
In periods of wet weather, training may be cancelled, with the decision to close a field made by club volunteers, NSFA, or Council. Always assume training is on unless you’re told otherwise. Watch for a Facebook post around 3:30pm. You will also receive a notification from your manager.
Positive Football
Please always treat your team, opposition, volunteers and officials with respect. Spectators should stand apart from players/managers/coaches and provide positive support only – leaving the coach to do the coaching. If issues arise, try to address them early, with your manager. Refer to our Issue Resolution page for guidance.
Shorts, socks, HOODIES AND JACKETS
Click here to order your shorts and socks. Sophie our merch manager will tell you where to collect your order. Please order ASAP, so there is time to get it ready. Order collection and last minute, in-person shopping this Friday from 5:30pm at Auluba. HOODIES AND JACKETS will be with us by Friday, check them out at Auluba on Friday evening – adults and kids sizes – they are great quality items.
CLUBHOUSE FRIDAY!
This Friday (31 March), meet your friends at the clubhouse from 5:30pm. Enjoy gourmet cheese plates to share, delicious BURGERS (including new VEGGIE burgers), and drinks from the bar. W35 players are on the BBQ – thank you! Steve, James and Mike are behind the bar. It will be ON whatever the weather.
Coaches and managers wanted
All teams need a volunteer Manager, Coach and ideally an Assistant Coach. If your team currently does not have these, please consider volunteering ASAP. If you can assist for Mixed Miniroos, email Richard at miniroosmixed@kpfc.asn.au
Girls in-term clinics
We have added some extra places to our free in-term clinics for G6-G11, Mondays at Howson and G12-G18 Wednesdays at Auluba. If you’re quick you might be able to grab one. Suitable for development-focussed girls, the clinics run for another 9 weeks and are in addition to training. Details here
School holiday clinics
Girls – there are places available in our FREE clinics at Abbotsleigh. Click here.
All – XLR8 also offer a big range of excellent clinics. Click here
Unused shirts
Any unused match shirts need to be returned to Brad urgently. Please email him at equipment@kpfc.asn.au if you have one.
MINIROOS – Saturday morning
Please support our local cafe and bakery for treats and drinks. Instead of Auluba Rd, please consider parking further down KP road, on Chisolm or Vernon – just a short walk through the bush.
PREMIER LEAGUE – Saturday afternoon
Enjoy the BAR and BBQ as our Premier League squad take on North Sydney. 1pm Reserve Grade and 3pm First Grade. Wear your red, blue and white while you watch some inspirational football. Northside Physio will be on site if you have physio issues to discuss.
G6/G7 – come and try, come and see
We can accommodate more players in this popular program. If your daughter turns 5, 6, or 7, bring her along to Auluba from 5:15pm Friday. Chat to coordinators and join in training. G6 are at Auluba this Sunday from 9 to 10am. You are welcome to come and see what the program is like.
Duke of Ed
A reminder that high school students can do all three parts of their Duke of Ed with us. Go to Volunteering.
Fields and amenities
Fields: We have engaged a consultant to provide a range of options for field usage given our growing membership and grounds being used at capacity for Winter night training in particular. We will engage with our members in the coming months about these options.

Auluba amenities: Further, progress is being made with a project to upgrade the toilets, change rooms and drainage at Auluba, including better accessibility for all. We are hopeful through engagement with council we will have improved facilities over the next year.

The Glade: Finally, we highlight opportunity for feedback on The Glade master plan due 9am April 3rd, including potential installation of lighting. That lighting would leverage the field for possible evening training, which would alleviate some pressure with growing population and football participation in our area across clubs.
Best wishes for the season

Full Time for Season 21

NSFA has announced the abandonment of the 2021 season. Such sad news for all of us who love football. It’s the first time a season has had to be abandoned in 64 years, and the decision was taken with a heavy heart by all involved.

Thank you to all the volunteers who worked so hard this year. My thoughts are with you, and I understand how you must be feeling.

Season 2021 ran from April through June and although it was shorter than usual, there were many achievements, including:
. 10-12 rounds of football for everyone, plus pre-season
. continued player growth and retention (1000+ for the first time)
. Increased female participation
. 180 volunteers and 15 Duke of Ed students
. Restarting our social calendar including clubhouse Fridays
. A new online store
. Clinics for Warrawee PS (and planned for TPS)
. Grants for expanded storage and equipment
. Agreement from Council on facilities upgrades

Team photos
Photos are currently being distributed via managers.

End of season awards
Every year we give out awards, and 2021 is no exception. We think awards are just as important, if not more so, in this difficult year. They recognise commitment to the sport and club, and remind players of good times with good friends. Awards will be available in early September and we will work with managers to distribute them.
. U6-U11 players will receive a participation trophy
. U12-U15 players will receive a participation medal
. Each U12-U18 team will receive two team awards
. Each senior team will receive three team awards

Shirts and kit bags
We will liaise with managers about collecting player shirts and kit bags.

Refunds
We will have more information for you after 14 August.

Development team trials
Our player development program is going from strength to strength with several of our players now in Northern Tigers rep teams. Trials for SAP, Diamond League and Super League teams will be scheduled for November, in readiness for Season 2022.

Looking ahead
Kissing Point FC is cohesive, growing and developing in spite of two extremely challenging years. I am very optimistic about the future of our great club. We will be in touch about season 2022!

Please feel free to contact any of us on the committee if you have questions.

Best wishes,
Andrew Frost
KPFC President

Volunteering Opportunities

I’m enormously proud of the volunteers who fill a wide variety of roles and work together as a fantastic team to run the club. Thank you one and all.

Volunteering can be very rewarding, and it’s a great way to get to know the community. Please consider taking up one of the vacant roles listed below. All roles are flexible, and do not require you to attend meetings. You will be well supported in getting up to speed.

To express interest, email me at president@kpfc.asn.au. If you’re interested in roles for next year, or you have special skills to share, please also contact me.

VOLUNTEER VACANCIES
Assistant Registrar
Help our busy registrar set up new players. This is a straightforward, online admin role from mid January through early April. Would suit someone with good attention to detail.

Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator
First point of contact for high school students volunteering through the Duke of Ed scheme.  Set up students in volunteer roles and keep in touch with local high schools. Low workload. Would suit a friendly person with good communication skills.

Events Coordinator
Help build our community through social activities. Run our very popular Trivia night, Presentation Day and other events. A fun, satisfying role, perfect for someone who likes short term projects.

IT Coordinator
Set up email for volunteers, assist with WordPress website back-end and help with file sharing etc. Very low time commitment. Ideal for someone with IT knowledge, but some training provided.

Referee Liaison Officer
Liaise with the referees association (KDFRA). Low time commitment and no refereeing experience necessary.

Sponsorship Coordinator
Maintain relationships with current sponsors and seek new sponsors. A very flexible role with a low time commitment. Would suit a friendly, outgoing person.

VP Mens All Age
This role would suit someone familiar with the Mens All Age teams. First point of contact for new players. Liaise with NSFA and our committee, help with field bookings, kit and issue resolution. Please note this person should attend committee meetings if possible.

WordPress Project
We need someone with solid WordPress knowledge for a short-term website project. This role could be paid.

And finally, a couple of important notes:

Trivia Night – save the date!
Our much-loved trivia night is BACK – Saturday July 17 at Turramurra High from 7pm. The trivia night is always a fantastic social outing, with BYO food and drinks, a hotly contested quiz, raffle and more. Mark the date in your diary and stay tuned for details.

Walking Football
Walking Football is coming to Kisso, and you’re invited. Big thanks to Rhondda Shaw for getting the program up and walking. To express interest, email Rhondda at rhonddashaw@hotmail.com.

Walking Football is a non-contact, low-impact game, suitable for men and women of any age. Matches are played with modified formats (eg 6 v 6) on a small pitch, with a shortened game time. There is no running allowed, and the ball can’t be kicked above head height. The focus is on the social aspect of the game – we guarantee there will be either coffees or beers afterwards. More detail via this one minute video.

NEW online store
It’s easy to order your Kisso kit. Check out the new online store for jackets, hoodies, socks, shorts, beanies, caps and more. Just head to the website.

June long weekend
All players have matches on the long weekend (12 and 13 June). Please tell your manager if you will be away.

School holidays
Miniroos and juniors – there are NO MATCHES for you on the middle weekend of the school holidays (3 and 4 July). Seniors (18+) have fixtures that weekend. Please check the dates page of the website for all important dates and an overview of the season.

Volunteering
Check out the video Football Australia made at Auluba, highlighting our volunteers! Thanks to everyone who answered our call-out for volunteers. We still need of a VP for our Mens All Age teams – please email Jeremy Tucker if this sounds like you.

Vale
Our sincere condolences to the friends and family of past player Garry Mackay (aka “Kiwi”) who passed away recently from cancer.

Let them play
A reminder that miniroos football is all about getting kids into the game in a fun, enjoyable way. Support and encourage your kids in the same way you would want for yourself. Please watch this video on the topic. And an excellent, short video for coaches here.

Rotation of Players
It is important in the younger ages (up to 14) that all players have a go in all the different positions. Pigeon-holing players at a foundation age level is the wrong approach to take. The benefits of rotation include:
. Increased awareness, understanding & empathy
. Advanced skill development
. Ability to adopt different mindsets from an early age
Please rotate players across all positions throughout the season. The scores are quickly forgotten by the kids. There are apps that can assist with managing positions and time on field and one that we recommend is Subtime.

Best regards,
Andrew Frost
