Each November, we hold trials for Development League teams, in readiness for the next Winter season.

Development League teams are for young players who want to develop their skills, and play at the top levels of community football. Teams train twice a week with a professional coach.

All players are encouraged to sign up for the trials, if they are part of the age groups listed below. Players who have not played with us previously are welcome. The trials are free, and it’s a good opportunity to meet our friendly organisers and find out more about development pathways.

Players who prefer to join a Community team do not need to attend these trials, and are invited to register in January.

Please email us (contact details below) with any questions.

In November 2020, we are holding trials for:

. SAP/DEV – Mixed U8, 9, 10 and 11

. Diamond League – Girls G12, 14, 16 and 18

. Super League – Mixed U12 and U13.

Please see below for details and to sign up for the trials.

More about SAP League

Skill Acquisition Phase (SAP) League supports skills development in a safe manner on small sided fields. The league was introduced by NSFA in 2020. Essentially the top division in the U8-U11 age groups, it underpins development for players aiming for Super League and Diamond League in Junior Competition. It is a pathway to Northern Tigers for talented players.

  • 15 team competition from 12 clubs in each age group
  • Under 8 to Under 11 age groups in 2021
  • Minimum training twice per week with an experienced and certified coach
  • Overseen by an experienced and certified Technical Director and Club Coach Coordinator
  • Occasional training sessions and games with Northern Tigers teams
  • Games played at set locations including Gala Days
  • Training at Howson and Auluba ovals (subject to NSFA allocations)

For each SAP team, we hope to also form a DEV (development) team, which also has twice-weekly training, towards providing further opportunity for development focussed players. Players will be graded into either SAP or Dev according to past performance and trial results. We also plan to have Community teams for each age group (with training once a week).

SAP/DEV does not diminish the community/participation aspect of football that is important at Kissing Point FC. It provides a pathway for talented players to play the highest levels of football without having to leave the club.

There will be additional costs associated with SAP and DEV teams to support coaching. And there are expectations on players in terms of attendance and attitude at training and game days. It is the best possible learning environment for young players to increase their football skills and play the best teams from other participating clubs.

SAP/Dev teams will be largely finalised late November or early December, although some players may be taken on later. Detailed information on coaching and costs will be provided.

More about Diamond League

Kissing Point FC is delighted to be partnering with Turramurra United FC in a joint venture to gain a Diamond League licence for 2021.

Note that for 2021, due to the growth in participation of girls, for G12, there will be both a Diamond League team and a Development team, with both teams having twice-weekly training.

There are additional costs associated with Diamond League (and to a lesser extent for G12 Dev), to support the additional coaching, and there are expectations on players in terms of attendance and attitude at training and games. Diamond League teams receive:

  • XLR8 training and game day coach
  • at least 20 weeks of 2 nights a week coaching
  • 15 weeks of matches plus gala days (+ pre-season trial games)
  • Dedicated female coaching coordinator

Players will be graded according to past performance and trial results, however, due to demand and grading we may not be able to accommodate every player into a DL or Dev team. Registration for community teams opens in January, as in past years.

Training will be Tuesday nights at NTRA/Bannockburn Oval and Friday nights at Auluba. Both clubs are aiming to have all female teams training on the same night as it allows greater options for game play between all teams and a great atmosphere at training.

Why a joint venture?

Both clubs are committed to female football, sit alongside each other geographically, and recognise that Diamond League needs to be a quality league with competitive teams. By combining forces, both clubs can enable current players to remain at their clubs and play at this level, as well as attract new players.

What if my daughter doesn’t make or doesn’t want to try out for a Diamond League team? Your daughter will still be able to play community football at her club in 2021. The aim is to provide for both community players and girls who wish to progress within the NSFA. Both clubs will continue to run as many teams as they can to serve female players, including those who want to play social football with friends.

When are the trials and how do I register? Please register via the link above and mark your calendars with both dates. We will stay in touch with reminders as we get closer to trial dates. Please also advise friends who are interested.

Super League – Mixed U12 and U13

Kissing Point FC has been invited to participate in the 2021 U12 Super League and U13 Super League competitions. This invitation is not extended to every club. It is based on:
  • team playing style and performance
  • match day assessments, and
  • club structure
This is a great outcome and indicative of the potential of our players and coaches.
There are two trial dates, both at Charles Bean Oval in Lindfield. Players are expected to attend both dates.
U12 and U13
Sunday 15 Nov 3:00 to 4:15
Sunday 22 Nov 3:00 to 4:15

If you are unable to make the dates and wish to register your interest, please email us.

2021 teams
There will be three teams for development-focussed players in U12 and U13, all with twice-weekly training:
. U12 Super League
. U12 Dev
. U13 Super League
There will also be community teams in each age group, training once a week (registration for community teams opens in January).

The Super League teams will have dedicated, qualified coaches for twice weekly training and game day. The U12 Dev team will be coached by a qualified coach training twice a week with one session delivered by a professional XLR8 coach.

Development-focussed players should attend the trials in November, conducted by XLR8 coaches. Core skills and game play will be assessed. Player selections will be based on both performance in 2020 (if applicable) and the trials.

There are additional costs associated with Super League and Development to support coaching payments. And there are expectations on players in terms of attendance and attitude at training and game days. This environment will be the best possible learning environment for young players to increase their football skills and play the best teams from other participating clubs.

Changes to U12 football in 2021
The NSFA recently announced changes to the structure of U12 football. The core elements are:

  • 9 a side football
  • pitch 60m by 40m (equivalent of box to box) rather than full pitch
  • offside rules enforced

These changes are designed to enhance player development and engagement. The modified game has been in place across a number of football associations for some time and the Northern Tigers U12 teams have been playing this format since 2016.

The teams will be finalised late November/December.
