Registration Open 2019

Dear Kissing Point Football Club member,

Happy New Year on behalf of Kissing Point Football Club! The 2019 Football season is not far away.

By way of introduction, I’m Andrew Frost and have taken on the role of club president at our end of year AGM. My thanks go to Mark Leathan our outgoing president for setting up a great committee and tireless work for the club over the last few years, Miles Townend the outgoing Juniors VP for his years of development of the Juniors, Craig Saltmarsh our outgoing Duke of Ed/Grounds coordinator, Adele Leathan for managing the canteen and work behind the scenes; and all of our coaches/managers/age group coordinators and volunteers for last year! A community club doesn’t work without people stepping up.

The committee has been busy preparing for the season; some key information below.

  • Registration for the 2019 season is now open
    • Register as early as you can (before mid Feb) so we can organise teams, coaches and equipment.
    • Active Kids rebate voucher: you may be able to claim $100 off registration fees for each child aged 4.5-18 years.  Apply for the voucher prior to registering. Find more information here or contact registrar Aron Campbell (
    • Fees have increased $25 this year, following two years without a raise, to cover:
      • A newly introduced NSFA facilities levy ($15 + GST) to increase the capacity and maintenance of grounds across the NFSA
      • Increased FFA fees ($8 seniors, $1.40 Juniors)
      • support for required paid positions in the club (Secretary and canteen), funds for grounds and facilities maintenance, greater hire costs for preseason training and matches.
      • Tertiary students $20 discount is applicable

We benchmark our fees against other clubs and they are below most other clubs; in addition we are providing training support for Miniroos and Juniors through XLR8 (see below), where some other clubs do not.

  • We have moved to the new FFA registration system. You will need to get a new Football Account first (even for returning players); see details in in the registration how to. Use your email linked with the previous FFA account for easy transfer of details for you or your kids.

    • Tuesday 12th March: Miniroos training kicks off
    • April 1st:  SEASON BEGINS
  • Volunteers:
    • As a community club we need people to volunteer whether it be volunteering time in the canteen/BBQ, help with distribution of kits/merchandise and events, coaching/managing teams/age coordinators, or being on the committee. If you have the inclination, get involved as it is a great way to get to know people in your community and do something good for the club.  Let Leigh Lofts ( know if you are interested in any role, great or small or need some info first. Roles we are looking to fill are:
      • Coaches/Managers/Age-group coordinators (particularly U6/7s): a valid Working With Children number is required and you need to be registered as a coach/manager as part of the competition rules for these roles this year, aligning with our club policy of the last 4 years.
      • Fundraising/events manager
      • Equipment manager
      • Help in the canteen (RSA required for bar events)
    • We have a great committee (see contacts here), with many people staying on/or being involved in the club from previous years. Contact us if you have questions, suggestions or want to get involved in some way.
  • Training support for Miniroos and Juniors:
    • XLR8 for Miniroos:
      • The club has moved to appoint XLR8 for training support of Miniroos. XLR8 are run by NSFA/Northern Tigers; with the aim of providing football development with high quality player and coaching development across the NSFA. The training is aligned with the national football curriculum and strengthens our development pathways with the Northern Tigers.
      • The training model is for collaborative coaching, where our club volunteer coaches take on the active role for training sessions, supported/guided by coach mentors from XLR8 (shared across a few teams training together).
    • XLR8 for Junior girls and mixed teams: We are adding XLR8 collaborative coaching support for our junior teams (previously Miniroos only), given feedback that some coaches had not played before, and would benefit from some support. This should considerably enhance the development of our Junior teams and coaches.
    • Junior Development teams:
      • Last season the NSFA established the Super League/Diamond League for junior competition (teams in division 1 of each age group). The NSFA places a number of obligations on clubs including specified coaching accreditation and twice weekly training sessions. Our U14s and U18s made the semi-finals in the top division last year. For season 2019, KPFC will nominate U12 and U15 junior teams to play Super League.
      • Initial trials for these U12 and U15 teams are being run Sunday 27th Jan at North Turramurra Recreation Area. These are great development opportunities and all players in these age groups are encouraged to participate. Further trials will be incorporated into the junior football grading day scheduled for 10 February.  You can register your interest in the trials through these links on the KPFC and NSFA websites.
      • Grading will be conducted by XLR8. Our new VP Junior Football Jeremy Tucker is working with the committee to ensure that all levels of skill are catered for and developed across all age groups. This work will include considering further opportunities to nominate teams for Super League. For all enquiries about junior competition, contact Jeremy at or 0466 552 605
      • Development teams will be fully funded on a user pays basis in future, with costs in this first year of introduction subsidised by the club with some cost recovery undertaken.
  • Improving Auluba
    • We are looking to improve the state of Auluba playing fields for games by reducing it’s usage where possible; particularly in preseason. This means using alternate grounds (Howson, Comenarra and Mimosa) and not consistently using one end of the ground/the goal-mouth for training.
    • We are working with council to see how we can improve the grounds, change rooms and storage.
  • News: Life Membership for Andrew Bell
    • Andrew was nominated and endorsed to gain life membership at our last AGM.  Apart from satisfying the formal points based criteria Andrew has;  had 42 Years of play at KPFC, coached many different teams including and not limited to All-Age and Over 35’s, been KPFC President at age 21 and been on the committee for 10 years, supported and grown women’s football in the club, helped establish lighting at Comenarra and Mimosa and bring Howson Oval to KPFC, and introduced of Friday Nights to KPFC Clubhouse.
    • Please join me in congratulating Andrew when you see him.
