On Saturday 2 September the G18As contested the final of the GWFC Shield at North Turramurra Recreation Area.
Our opposition was Asquith – a team we had lost to on both occasions this season. The day was cloudless and quite hot. The field was a bit sticky and slow. Despite the weather, the game was fast and played in the best spirit.
Kissing Point had the better of the chances in the first half but the score remained at nil-nil at half time. The second half was similar to the first, but you could sense that Asquith were tiring. Asquith hit the post while we kept hitting the Asquith keeper. Then, with 4 minutes to go, Isabella Johnston make a break down the left winger and, from the edge of the 6 yard box on a very acute angle, chipped the keeper and scored! The crowd went wild. Our resolute defence was able to keep Asquith at bay and we won 1 – 0.
An excellent result for the girls who have worked so hard all season and play so well together as a team.
A big thank you to Emily Si from the G16As and to all of the Kissing Point supporters who came to watch.
